Director Identification Numbers (Director IDs)

From 31st October 2021 ASIC require all Australian company directors to apply for a Director Identification Number. This is a unique public number attached to a director.

The Government has introduced this measure to prevent false or fraudulent director identities and illegal phoenix activity.

Registrations are now open.

The dates the registrations are required are based on when you become a director;

Date you become a director Date you must apply

On or before 31 October 2021 By 30 November 2022

Between 1 November 2021 and 4 April 2022 Within 28 days of appointment

From 5 April 2022 Before appointment

As this is linked to a director’s identity, accountants can’t apply for this on the directors behalf. We can help with general queries.
